There is an appealing background to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just across the border from next door Thailand, where gambling hall gambling is banned. Eight gambling dens are based in a relatively small area in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia casinos is in a prime area, a 3 to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing capital accrued from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million, and there are a number of limitations constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; although, investment sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 1700, and despite the fact visas are supposedly required to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is correct of many border crossings.

The initial Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored ship casino, features one hundred and fifty slots and sixty table games. The Naga gambling hall is open all day and night with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly followed. A total of 150 slot machines and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred slot machines and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and 66 of the normal gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-inclusive resort and hotel building that features many amenities in addition to the gambling hall, which contains ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty slots and 88 table games.
