Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is an interesting story to the Cambodia gambling dens that lie just over the dividing line from nearby Thailand, where casino gaming is not permitted. Eight gambling halls are based in a generally small area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia casinos is in a perfect area, a 3 to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai laborers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing income acquired from the gambling halls ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of controls constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; still, financial sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 0900 to 17:00, and though visas are supposedly needed to cross, there are methods around this, as is real of most border crossings.

The original Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just 1 gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked ship gambling den, contains one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and sixty tables. The Naga casino never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, four tables of twenty-one, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon opened. There are one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slot machine games and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and 66 of the common table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, also a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-inclusive vacation and hotel compound that features many comforts aside from the gambling den, which has ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 one armed bandits and 88 table games.
