Cambodia Gambling Dens
March 3rd, 2018 by Shane

There is an interesting history to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just across the border from next door Thailand, where casino wagering is not permitted. Eight gambling dens are based in a generally small space in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime area, a three to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest betting locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The phenomenal capital accrued from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a number of limitations constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; although, financial sources are cryptic. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and even though visas are for all intents and purposes required to pass, there are means around this, as is correct of most border crossings.

The 1st Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary barge gambling den, highlights one hundred and fifty slot machines and 60 tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of vingt-et-un, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon followed. A total of 150 slots and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slot machines and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven punto banco (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and sixty six of the common gaming tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-around resort and hotel building that contains many amenities aside from the gambling den, which provides ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and eighty eight gaming tables.
